Posters for a small bedroom

A small bedroom is not a reason to leave the walls bare. It is the room where one good print does the most: you see it every morning from two metres away. Here is what actually works when floor space is tight and the walls are all you have.

One large poster beats five small ones

In a small room, a cluster of small frames reads as clutter. A single large print reads as a decision. One 18×24 inch poster above a bed or a desk fills the wall the way a window does: it gives the eye somewhere to rest. If you already own small prints, group them tight and treat the group as one shape.

The 18×24 inch size is a good fit for a small bedroom. Hung horizontally it sits well above a bed. Hung vertically it works beside a wardrobe or next to a door. jamit sells one size, 18×24 inches, at $30 with shipping included. On the shop, the choice is about the design, never the format.

Hang it at eye height, not picture-rail height

The most common mistake in a small room is hanging art too high. The centre of the poster should sit around 57 to 60 inches from the floor. Above a bed, leave a hand's width between the mattress and the frame. A poster hung high in a low room makes the ceiling feel even lower.

Renter-safe ways to hang

Most small bedrooms are rentals, so the wall paint is not yours to damage. Wooden poster hangers hold an 18×24 print flat and leave two small pins, not screw holes. Removable adhesive strips rated for the poster's weight work too, and they peel off painted plasterboard cleanly. Test any strip on a hidden spot first if the wall is freshly painted.

Pick a print that suits a small room

Dark, quiet designs with a single point of light suit a small bedroom, because they hold the wall without shouting across it. Very busy patterns can make the room feel tighter. Each jamit drop is one theme and one mood, not a hundred unrelated prints. The collection is small enough to be judged. Each poster is printed for one week, then retired for good.

You can see what is live this week on the current drop. Every design there is a limited edition: once the week ends, it does not come back. If you would rather hear about each drop as it opens, the drop list emails you when a drop opens.

The short version

One large poster, hung at eye height, on the wall you face most. Wooden hangers or removable strips, so you get the deposit back. Pick a quiet design, and pick it while the drop is still live.
